Hlavne preto, \u017ee bol jedin\u00fdm autom, ktor\u00e9 si mohli v tom \u010dase v\u00fdchodn\u00ed nemci dovoli\u0165. Trabant mal v\u0161ak aj ve\u013ea prednost\u00ed: Bol ve\u013emi jednoduch\u00fd, vy\u017eadoval minim\u00e1lnu \u00fadr\u017ebu, vymeni\u0165 cel\u00fd motor nezabralo dlh\u0161ie ne\u017e jednu hodinu. Kon\u0161trukcia podvozku Kitten je od strednej \u010dasti dozadu v podstate rovnak\u00e1 ako u trojkolesov\u00e9ho Robina, s pou\u017eit\u00edm listov\u00fdch pru\u017e\u00edn a pevnej zadnej n\u00e1pravy. V prednej \u010dasti je&nbsp; v\u0161ak auto v\u00fdrazne odli\u0161n\u00e9, s motorom posunut\u00fdm dopredu.
